4Drive Indonesia is a booking platform that connects travellers with local vehicle suppliers across Bali. We work with established operators in multiple locations, giving you access to a range of vehicles - from compact city cars to rugged SUVs and pickups suited to mountain terrain. Each supplier manages its own fleet, handles the paperwork, and provides roadside support.
Our role is straightforward: we present available vehicles, collect a booking advance online, and issue a voucher with the supplier's contact details. When you arrive, you collect the keys directly from the local company, sign the rental agreement, and inspect the vehicle together. Any damage noted goes into the contract before you drive off.

The booking process follows four steps. First, you search for a vehicle by entering your pick-up location and dates on the homepage. Results show what's available, along with payment requirements for each specific vehicle - some accept debit cards for the final balance, others require cash or credit cards. The listing tells you exactly what's needed.
Second, you pay a booking advance online by card. This secures your reservation. Cash cannot be used for online payment. The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle, using the method specified in your booking confirmation.
Third, you receive a voucher by email. It contains the supplier's name, address, contact details, and pick-up instructions. Some suppliers operate desks at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), others have offices in town or offer hotel delivery.
Fourth, you collect the vehicle at the agreed time. You'll sign the rental agreement, inspect the vehicle with the supplier's representative, and note any existing scratches or dents in the contract. The supplier may place a hold on your card if a deposit is required - that amount is released when you return the vehicle undamaged. If you've booked a no-deposit vehicle, no hold is placed.

Pick-up and drop-off locations depend on the supplier. Some allow one-way rentals between towns, others require you to return the vehicle to the same location. Check the booking terms before you confirm.
Some vehicles in our listings are available without a deposit hold. This means the supplier does not place a temporary block on your card when you collect the keys. It does not change the excess (franchise) in the rental agreement - if the vehicle is damaged, you remain responsible for the amount stated in your contract.
No-deposit options suit travellers who want to avoid large card holds or who use debit cards with limited available funds. The rental still includes third-party liability coverage and damage cover with an excess. You inspect the vehicle at pick-up, note any existing damage, and return it in the same condition. The rental agreement and insurance terms are identical to vehicles that do require a deposit - only the payment method differs.
If you don't have a credit card, consider raising the limit on your debit card before travel. Payment requirements vary by vehicle, not by class, so always check the listing details.
Local suppliers offer paid extras you can request at booking or pick-up. These include adding a second driver to the rental agreement, child seats for younger passengers, and GPS devices. Ferry tickets to Nusa Penida or Java are arranged separately - the supplier can advise on schedules and booking, but tickets are not included in the rental.
Fuel policy is typically full-to-full: you receive the vehicle with a full tank and return it the same way. Pertamina, Shell, and Total stations are common across Bali. Urban speed limits run 40-50 km/h, rural roads 60-80 km/h. There are no toll roads or vignettes on the island.
