Terms and Conditions

Effective September 2026

These terms govern your use of the 4Drive Indonesia booking platform and the subsequent rental of vehicles. By completing a booking through our website, you accept these conditions in full. Please read them carefully before proceeding with any reservation.

Scope

4Drive Indonesia operates as a booking platform connecting customers with local rental companies across Bali. We facilitate the reservation process and collect the booking advance online. The actual rental contract is formed between you and the rental company at the time of vehicle collection.

Each rental company sets its own operational policies, vehicle condition standards, and additional service offerings. These details are provided in your booking voucher and confirmed at the rental counter when you sign the rental agreement. We do not own or operate the vehicles ourselves.

Your voucher contains the contact details of the specific rental company handling your reservation. For any operational questions during your rental period, contact them directly.

Bookings and the Rental Agreement

When you complete a booking on 4driveindonesia.com, you receive a voucher confirming your reservation. This voucher is not the rental contract. The binding rental agreement is signed when you collect the vehicle from the local rental company, either at their counter, at the airport terminal, or at your accommodation if delivery is arranged.

The rental agreement includes the specific terms for your hire: the vehicle condition, fuel policy, mileage allowance, excess liability, and any additional services you have requested such as a second driver or child seat. Ferry tickets to Nusa Penida or Java are arranged separately and are not included in standard terms.

Inspect the vehicle thoroughly before departure. Document any existing damage in the rental agreement. Photographs taken at this stage help avoid disputes when you return the vehicle. The rental company's representative will walk you through the process.

Advance Payment and Balance

A booking advance is payable online by card when you reserve your vehicle through our website. This secures your reservation. We do not accept cash payments online. The advance amount is stated clearly during the booking process and confirmed in your voucher.

The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle. The acceptable payment method for the balance depends on the specific vehicle you have booked, not on vehicle class or type. Your voucher specifies whether the rental company accepts debit cards, credit cards, or cash for the balance payment.

If you do not have a credit card but need to pay a balance by card, consider raising the limit on your debit card in advance. Payment requirements are determined by the rental company handling your booking and are communicated before you travel.

Deposit Conditions

A security deposit may be required at the time of vehicle collection. The deposit is a temporary hold or block on your card, not a charge. It is released when you return the vehicle undamaged and with the agreed fuel level. The deposit amount and whether one is required depend on the specific vehicle you have booked.

The deposit is separate from insurance coverage or excess liability. Even vehicles offered with no deposit still carry an excess in the event of damage. The deposit policy is explained in your voucher and confirmed when you sign the rental agreement.

Deposit requirements vary by rental company and vehicle. Some may accept debit cards for the deposit hold, others require credit cards. Check your voucher for the details that apply to your booking.

Drivers and Documents

All drivers must present a valid home driving licence together with an International Driving Permit at the time of vehicle collection. Both documents are mandatory under local regulations. If you plan to have a second driver, declare this when booking, as an additional fee applies.

Drivers must meet the age and experience requirements set by the rental company. These vary by vehicle and are confirmed in your voucher. Ensure all drivers are listed on the rental agreement before you leave the rental location.

The person who made the booking must be present at vehicle collection and must be one of the named drivers. Subletting or transferring the vehicle to another person is prohibited.

Use of the Vehicle

Vehicles must be driven in accordance with local traffic laws. Bali operates left-hand traffic. Urban speed limits range from 40 to 50 km/h, while rural roads permit 60 to 80 km/h. There are no toll roads or vignette requirements on the island.

Bali is an island. Cross-border travel is not possible by road. Ferries to Java or Lombok require separate travel arrangements and are not included in standard rental terms. If you plan to take a vehicle on a ferry, you must obtain prior written permission from the rental company and arrange ferry tickets independently.

Village roads are narrow, with heavy scooter traffic. Seasonal rain occurs from October to March, bringing flooding risk on some routes. The dry season runs from April to September. Exercise caution on mountain roads and gravel surfaces, particularly in the highlands near Ubud, Singaraja, and Amed.

Fuel is available at Pertamina, Shell, and Total stations. Return the vehicle with the agreed fuel level to avoid additional charges.

Changes and Cancellation

If you need to modify your booking, contact us as soon as possible at [email protected]. Changes are subject to availability and may incur additional charges depending on the new dates or vehicle selection. Amendments requested close to the collection date may not be possible.

Cancellation terms vary depending on how far in advance you cancel. Your booking confirmation email outlines the specific cancellation policy for your reservation. Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing by email.

If you fail to collect the vehicle without prior notice, your booking will be treated as a no-show and the advance payment is forfeited.

Liability

You are responsible for any damage to the vehicle during the rental period, up to the excess amount stated in your rental agreement. This includes damage to tyres, windscreen, undercarriage, and interior. Off-road driving or misuse of the vehicle may void coverage and leave you liable for full repair costs.

Theft, loss of keys, or loss of documents also incur charges as specified in the rental agreement. Park in secure locations and never leave valuables visible in the vehicle.

4Drive Indonesia is not liable for any delays, cancellations, or changes made by the rental company. We are not responsible for the mechanical condition of vehicles, roadside assistance response times, or any personal injury or property loss during your rental period. Your contract is with the rental company, and they bear operational responsibility.

Complaints

If you experience any issues during your rental, contact the rental company immediately using the details provided in your voucher. Most operational problems can be resolved on the spot or during your rental period.

For unresolved complaints or feedback about the booking process, email us at [email protected]. Include your booking reference and a clear description of the issue. We will respond within 48 hours during our operating hours, Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (GMT+8).

Our office is located in Renon, Denpasar, Indonesia. Written complaints may be sent to this address. We aim to resolve all disputes fairly and promptly.

Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Indonesia. Any disputes arising from your booking or rental are subject to the jurisdiction of Indonesian courts. The rental agreement you sign with the local rental company is also governed by Indonesian law.

By completing a booking through 4Drive Indonesia, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these terms and conditions in full.
